DUH-W201/W201S
Dynamic Ultra Micro Hardness Tester
The DUH-W201 and W201S are powerful tools for evaluation surface strength of many types of materials, including metals, plastics, rubber and ceramics. In particular, these testers are unique in that they enable hardness measurements of thin films ad surface treatment layers which are impossible with conventional equipment.
The Shimadzu Dynamic Ultra Micro Hardness Testers DUH-W201 and W201S - with Windows compatible software - provide accurate data for surface strength properties, an area which is becoming increasingly important.
Metals
The hardness of micro regions with very fine and complicated structures can be reliably measured.
Plastics
Hardness is an important feature of engineering plastics. Even the conventionally diff icult-to-measure high light- absorption materials can now be measured.
Rubbers and Elastomers
Rubber hardness measuring was conventionally performed with a uniform rubber hardness tester (JIS K6253/IS07619). The DUH-W201 and W201S are capable of measuring at a variety of test force parameters while also being able to ascertain the hardness of top layer of rubber surface to enable evaluation of surface deterioration.
Micrometer - Optical Head
This unit measures the size of the specimen. The specimen is sandwiched by two indicators to enable measurement up to 200µm at an increment of 0.1µm (when the x5O objective lens is used). The measured dimension is displayed on the PC screen where it can be further processed to calculate and display the strength of the specimen.
Thin Films
The hardness evaluation of surface thin films such as coating films produced by CVD (chemical vapor deposition) and PVD (physical vapor deposition) or ion implanted layers has become increasingly important for the improvement and diversification of film production technology. The Ultra Micro Hardness Testers make evaluation simple.
Glass and Ceramics
Brittle materials can be hardness evaluated without generating cracks. Also, the test force to generate cracks can be measured.
Fibers
Important data can be obtained from strength evaluation of fiber specimens contained in composite materials such as glass fiber, carbon fiber and whiskers.
In addition, these testers can also handle hardness tests for optical fibers.
Electronic Components such as IC and LSI
The strength characteristic of highly integrated electronic components such as LSI is an important reliability concern. Hardness measurement can be performed reliably for each pattern section.
